Welcome to Flintshire Business Week 2017,
the 11th anniversary of our flag ship business event
designed to support the business community in our county.

Councillor Derek Butler, Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Flintshire County Council

cllr-derek-butler-welcomeOur theme for this year is ‘The Growth Agenda’ and will focus on helping businesses in North Wales deal with new challenges as they emerge from recession.  There will be a particular focus on manufacturing, reflecting the fact that it is such an important part of the regional economy.

Part of our administration’s pledge is to maintain a sustainable business community; we are committed to helping promote local companies, to develop trading opportunities and to raise the profile of our area as a great place to set up a business. Growth of the local economy is a key priority for the County Council and it plays a significant part in our improvement plan every year.

To achieve this we need to provide an environment to encourage growth and investment and Flintshire in Business continues to play an important part in developing a shared working relationship between the community and local businesses.

The event helps local business owners by providing a wider platform to showcase business to the region and works by attracting larger companies to the area to provide jobs, training and opportunities that might not otherwise be available.

Finally I’d like to thank all of our sponsors and partners on behalf of Flintshire County Council. Without your support the opportunity for Flintshire in Business would not exist so a huge thank you goes to everyone involved.

Kingspan was delighted to win the Environment and Sustainability Awards in 2011. We dedicate the winning of these prestigious awards to the fantastic commitment and effort of our staff in putting our sustainability vision into practice. These awards play an important role in demonstrating our achievements to our key stakeholders including our customers and those involved in the specification and use of our products. Our vision for the future is that our Holywell site will be powered totally by renewable energy as we seek to further reduce our impact on the environment.  Mark Harris - Kingspan Insulations
"As a family run business that is still growing (even in these challenging times), we are particularly pleased to win the FBW Awards as we have always regarded our employees as one of our key resources. We are very proud that our efforts have been recognised in this way." Steve Morgan - MD - P & A Group
I was amazed and immensely proud to win the 2011 Business Person of The Year. To win such a prestigious award was testament to all the hardworking staff at Wagtail who have supported me and the company. This award is particularly satisfying for me personally as it demonstrates Wagtail’s high standing within the Flintshire business community. Collin Singer, MD - Wagtail UK
